Gia Arabidze

is a Dean of the Faculty of Power Engineering and Telecommunication at the Georgian Technical University. He graduated from Faculty of Power Engineering of Georgian Polytechnic Institute in 1972. In 1972-73 we worked at the Thermal Power Unit of Rustavi Metallurgical Plant as a head of shift. Since 1973 he heldthe positions of laboratory manager and assistant at the Theoretical and General Thermal Energy and Thermal Device Department of the Georgian Technical University. Prof. Arabidze served as a Deputy Head of Faculty of Power Engineering between 1998 and 2005. He holds the position of the Dean of the Faculty of Power Engineering and Telecommunication since 2005. He obtained the degrees of a Candidate of Technical Sciences in 1987 and a Doctor of Technical Sciences in 2004 at the Georgian Technical University and has held the academic positions of Docent since 1987 and a full professor since 2004 at the same university.Prof. Arabidze offers the courses in the following disciplines: Thermal Energy Devices; Fuels and Combustion Theory; Boilers and Steam Generators; Environmental Impacts of Thermal Energy Devices and Mitigation Measures. He has authored and co-authored more than 115 scientific publications including 18 text books and 5 monographs. Text book titled Boiler Devices co-authored by Prof. Arabidze in 2005 was acknowledged by the prize of the Georgian Academy of Energy. Prof. Arabidze has worked with number of international organizations, companies and investors on various projects throughout the country. He participated in several pilot energy efficiency projects implemented in Tbilisi and different regions in Georgia. These projects introduced energy saving technologies to households, educational facilities, medical, commercial and industrial units. Prof. Arabidze is also actively involved in international scientific and educational projects. He has cooperated with number of international organization including EC, UNDP, GEF, USAID etc. Some of the projects that he was involved in include: Creating Favorable Environment in the Country for the Introduction of Energy Efficient Technologies; Problems of Safe and Reliable Operation of Thermal and Atomic Power Plants; Reconstruction of Engineering and Educational Plans in the Georgian Technical University; Management of Energy Consumption;Alternative Sources of Energy for Stepanstminda Region; Development of Energy Consumption Monitoring System for the Georgian Technical University; Powering the Lighting of Gori-Kareli Section of the East-West Main Highway with Solar Energy; Emergency Response Plan and Normative Database for the Georgian Energy Sector; Development of Bachelor’s Course in Energy Supply of the Household, Recreational and Industrial Units with Renewable Energy and Energy Efficient Technologies; Assessment of Residue Biomass Energy Potential for Georgia and its Demonstration through Pilot Project in Natakhtati School etc.
Prof. Arabidze is a member of the Georgian Academy of Engineering and Energy, Georgian and American Associations of Energy Engineers. He is a certified energy manager.
Prof. Arabidze’s contribution to the Georgian educational system was acknowledged by Order of Honor in 2003.
His research interests include energy crisis and its management; environmental externalities of thermal energy; renewable energy; energy saving and energy efficient technologies; energy and environment protection.


Tengiz Jishkariani

is Doctor of Technical Science, Full Professor, Real Member of Georgian Academy of Energy and the Academy Prize Laureate, Certified Energy Manager and Energy Audit, Member of International Association of Engineer-Energy Specialist of Georgia and USA (Atlanta), He is Deputy Dean of Power Engineering and Telecommunication Faculty at Georgian Technical University.T. Jishkarianiworks at Georgian Technical University, Department of Theoretical and General Thermal Techniques and Heat PowerInstallations since 1969. He has been working for the first time as a senior assistant, then as an assistant, then as a Dicent since 1986 and as a full professor since September 2006. He defended his candidate dissertation In 1984 and the doctoral dissertation in 2006.

T. Jishkariani many years leads lectures in major academic disciplines of the faculty, guides scientific works of doctoral and graduate students and leads post graduate educational programs. He is a representative of European Union funded TEMPUS program at Georgian Technical University and is an author more than 120 scientific works.

T. Jishkariani, as an expert, consultant, manager and key staff member, actively cooperates with international organizations, companies, contractors, investors and partners. T. Jishkariani participated at various times implemented USAID programs (,,New Applied Technology Efficiency and Lighting initiative,“ ,,Rural Energy’’, ,,Energy Capacity Enhancement Project", and others.) in Georgia. T. Jishkariani is taking part in following projects funded by: The Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, BP, STATOIL,,,Heidelberg Cement in Georgia," Ltd ,,Geo Engineering", Ltd ,,Georgian International Energy Corporation," ,,Science and Technology Department,’’ ,,The National Science Foundation’’, ,,Leader of Scientific - Technological Development,” ,,Fund and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage Foundation". T. Jishkarianicooperates with organizations: USAID contractor - PA Consulting Group, ,,Hagler Bailly Co’’ and Winrock International’’, ,,Green Alternative" and ,,Energy Efficiency Centre Georgia". T.Jishkariani directly involves of implementation up to 40 energy efficiency pilot projects in household, training - educational, medical, commercial and industrial sectors in Tbilisi and in different regions of Georgia.

His scientific fields of research are: Problems of Operation and Optimization of Thermal Energy Equipment, Combined Cycle Thermal Power Plants, Modern Technologies For Burning Solid Fuel, Energy Saving and Energy Efficient Technologies, Renewable Energy Resources, Energy Management, Energy Audit.

Maka Gudiashvili

has been working at the Georgian Technical University since 1990, for the first time as a senior laboratory Assistant, then an Assistant Professor and Docent. Since 2006 she works as an Associate Professor of Faculty of Power Engineering and Telecommunication.

maka-giduashviliMaka Gudiashvili graduated from the Georgian Polytechnic Institute in 1987 and gets Engineer - Electrician qualification with specialization: ,,Electricity Supply of Industrial Enterprises, Towns and Villages”. She studied in post graduate course inEconomy Research Institute of the Economic and Social Problems of Georgia In 1995-1998. She defended her doctoral dissertation in 1999 at Ivane Javakhishvili State University on the subject ,,The Improvement of the Capital Funds of Georgian Power Engineering in a Market Economy”. She was awarded the scientific degree of Candidate of Economic Sciences, specialty ,,Economic of Industrial Enterprises”. She was awarded the academic title of Docent in 2003.
MakaGudiashvilihas several scientific works, including several textbooks and Training - methodical literature. She was awarded from the Georgian Energy Academy in 2007 and received a premium for her guidance issued textbook ,,Economic of Fuel - Energy Complex Enterprises”. She has received certificates of participation in trainings held by USAID/CAUCASUSand INOGATE/SEMISE during 2009-2012 year period. MakaGudiashvili is a member of International Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) USA, Atlanta.

Scientific research areas of MakaGudiashvili works are Energy Economics and Business Management. Academic disciplines, which leads MakaGudiashviliin Bachelor, Master and Doctoral programs are: Economics and Management of Energy, Energy Production Planning - Development, Principles of Energy Management, Energy Security, Energy Economics, Managerial Economics.
